Less Often is Better
We’ve been in the habit of changing motor oil every 3 months but that’s no longer necessary. Our middle grade or “Better” oil change uses a conventional base oil that’s loaded with additives to help it protect your engine better, longer. This isn’t a retail scheme, it’s the result of many hours of research and study on modern motor oils. This oil will easily last 4 months or 4,000 miles and give your engine better protection in the process.
Over the course of a year, 3 of these cost about the same as 4 of the regular oil changes, so the money’s the same but you save a trip.
If you drive a 1997 to 2002 Toyota/Lexus product, you should use only this oil, as those were the years that were prone to develop engine sludge. This oil not only protects against sludge, it slowly removes it.
With extra additives to fight acids, it prevents acidic oil from attacking oil seals, causing expensive oil leaks.
